What’s new
What changed in nerdbox with each release, the newest first.
0.12 — A new look, and the code even closer
New
- nerdbox has a new look: light tiles in green, yellow and pink, a new logo and a redesigned dark theme. Mail content stays on a light background, easy to read.
- On the overview, each address shows its last mail. When it is a code, copy it in one click, without opening the inbox.
- When a mail arrives with a code, the notification offers to copy it right away.
- A “Getting started” card guides you: first address, extension, codes on this device. Hide it whenever you like.
Improved
- In an inbox, the time left shows at a glance, with a reminder to extend it in its last hour, and how many share links are still active.
- New mail stays pink in the list until you open it, and the code found sits right next to the message.
- On a computer, the open mail takes the whole height of the window, and the list of messages scrolls on its own.
- On a phone, go to the previous or next mail without going back to the list, and copy the code with a large button.
- The Chrome extension gets the same look: a new icon, and the last code of each address ready to copy.
0.11 — Your account, in your hands
New
- A “My account” space gathers your profile, the ways you sign in and the notifications of each device.
- Download everything nerdbox keeps about your account in one click, in a single file.
- Delete your account yourself: type its email, sign in again, and it is gone, here and at our sign-in service.
- If you wish, get nerdbox news and tips by email, or hear first about the developer offer. Unsubscribe in one click.
Improved
- Your language is kept on your account: nerdbox speaks it on all your devices.
- The terms of use now describe deleting your account yourself: accept them again on your next visit.
0.10 — nerdbox.app, in French and in English
New
- nerdbox has its own address: nerdbox.app. Old links lead there on their own. If you installed the app on your phone, install it again from nerdbox.app and sign in again.
- The site speaks French and English, each language at its own address: choose it at the top of the page, and your space will remember it.
- Pages to help you choose: the extension, frequently asked questions, getting a code, and sourced comparisons with YOPmail, temp mail sites and aliases.
Improved
- Create your account in one click with Google or GitHub, and the sign-in page speaks your language.
- On the page that waits for your email to be verified, a button opens Gmail or Outlook.
- The Chrome extension moves to version 0.8, which no longer asks for any permission on a website. Until it is updated, it can no longer create addresses.
- Pages show up faster, and the header holds on one line even on a small phone.
0.9 — Public opening (beta)
New
- nerdbox opens to the public, in a test phase: the service may still change, and your feedback is welcome through the contact page.
- The Chrome extension is on the Chrome Web Store: a link takes you there from the home page and from your account’s menu.
- A report can be followed with its number, and any decision about your account or your addresses shows in your space, with how to contest it.
Improved
- Confirmation and new password emails come from a nerdbox address, in French or English depending on your browser.
- A nerdbox address can no longer be used to create an account: you will not lose access to your account when it expires.
- When you make too many requests, your space tells you how long to wait before trying again.
- The terms and the privacy policy say what is kept and for how long, including the connection data the law requires us to keep for a year.
0.8 — An up-to-date home page
Improved
- The home page now shows the phone app, sharing a mailbox and extending an address, and answers two new questions.
0.7 — The code without leaving the page
New
- The Chrome extension fills in the email field and shows you the code, without leaving the page: right-click the field, “Fill with nerdbox”.
- Each address the extension makes is named after the site, and its window keeps the last code each mailbox received.
0.6 — nerdbox in your pocket
New
- Install nerdbox as an app, on your phone or your computer.
- Get a notification as soon as a mail arrives, with the verification code when there is one.
- Hide what notifications say, device by device: they then only say “New mail”.
- This What’s new page tells what changes with each release.
0.5 — Share a mailbox
New
- Share a mailbox read-only with a simple link or a QR code, for as long as you choose.
- Revoke a share at any time; it also ends when the mailbox expires. Whoever opens it sees neither your label nor your account, and cannot delete anything.
Fixed
- The footer of your space now stays at the bottom of the screen.
0.4 — More time, less copy and paste
New
- Extend an address by 24 hours, as many times as you need, up to 7 days.
- Give each address a label to remember what it is for. Only you can see it.
- nerdbox spots the verification code in a mail: it shows in the list, and one click on the message copies it.
- A mail’s confirmation link opens straight from a button.
0.3 — Transparency and trust
New
- Legal notice, terms of use, privacy policy, cookies page and contact, in French and in English.
- Report the abuse of a nerdbox address, no account needed; you get a tracking number.
- You accept the terms of use before creating your first address, and again with each new version.
Improved
- No cookie banner, because there is nothing to accept: no advertising tracker, no audience measurement, and fonts served by us.
- Technical logs and backups are erased after 30 days at most.
0.2 — A redesigned interface
New
- Sign in with your Google or GitHub account, as well as with an email and a password.
Improved
- A new home page, which says plainly what nerdbox is for and how to use it.
- Your space works as well on a phone as on a wide screen.
- Keyboard navigation, contrast and zoom reworked so that nerdbox works for everyone, in light and dark themes.
Fixed
- The “Show images” button now does show a mail’s pictures, which stay blocked until then.
- nerdbox finally has its name and logo, on the page and in the browser tab.
0.1 — nerdbox launches
New
- Create a free account and get your first mail within seconds, without ever giving out your real address.
- Disposable addresses in one click, random or with the alias you choose. Up to 5 active addresses, each living 24 hours.
- Mail arrives live, no need to reload the page.
- Read each mail as HTML, as text or as its original source, and download its attachments.
- Remote images are blocked: tracking pixels see nothing.
- Your mailbox is private: only you read your mail, behind your account.
- In French and in English, in a light or dark theme that follows your system.
