Terms of use

Version 2026-10-07.1 · last updated October 7, 2026

1. The service

nerdbox is a free service, published by Robin Meyssonnier EI, that gives you disposable email addresses on the domain nerdbox.rsvp and shows, live, the mail they receive. These terms govern its use. By creating an account, then by accepting them in your space, you agree to them.

nerdbox only receives mail: you cannot send, reply or forward from it. It is not a mailbox for your important accounts.

2. Account and access

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Sign-in is provided by Auth0 (Okta): with an email and a password, or with a Google or GitHub account. nerdbox never sees your password.
  • Your email must be verified before you can create an address.
  • You keep your access to yourself: what is done with your account is done by you. Tell us at once if you think it is used by someone else.
  • Creating accounts in bulk, by robots or to get round a limit, is forbidden.

3. How the service works

  • An address lives 24 hours from its creation. You can extend it by 24 hours at a time, up to 7 days from its creation. Once expired, it disappears from your space with its mail, and mail sent to it is refused.
  • You can give an address a label, which only you see.
  • You can share an address read-only through a link. Anyone who holds the link reads its mail, without its label, until the link expires or you revoke it, and at the latest until the address expires. You choose whom you give it to.
  • The service points out the code or the confirmation link a mail seems to contain. It is a guess: check it against the mail before using it.
  • At most 5 active addresses at a time per account, and 20 new addresses per hour.
  • At most 100 messages per address: beyond that, the oldest are deleted.
  • Mail larger than 5 MB is refused.
  • An address of your choice can be taken by another user 1 hour after it expires: whatever is still sent to it then reaches them.
  • Remote images in mail are blocked until you choose to show them.
  • You can delete a message or an address at any time.

4. What the service does not guarantee

The service is provided free of charge and as it is. Mail may arrive late, or not at all: when the reception chain fails, the sender may or may not be told so. The service may be interrupted for maintenance or a breakdown.

Many sites refuse disposable addresses, and some domains end up on blocklists. Do not use nerdbox for an account that matters to you (bank, administration, health, work, main email): once the address has expired, no password reset can reach you.

5. Forbidden uses

You may not use nerdbox to:

  • 5.1. commit fraud, phishing or identity theft, or receive the proceeds of one;
  • 5.2. get round a ban, a suspension or a limit placed by another service;
  • 5.3. create accounts in bulk, on nerdbox or elsewhere, or automate the service;
  • 5.4. harass, threaten or intimidate anyone;
  • 5.5. receive, store or share illegal content (child sexual abuse material, incitement to hatred or terrorism, content that infringes someone’s rights…);
  • 5.6. disrupt the service, probe its security or get round its limits.

6. Reports and moderation

Anyone, with or without an account, can report an address or a use through the report form or by writing to [email protected]. Each report gets a number, with which its author follows it. It is examined by a person, the publisher, never by an automated tool, and only on the address’s metadata (whether it exists, its dates, how many messages and from which domains): nobody reads the content of the mail to decide.

When a report is founded, or a breach of these terms is found, the publisher may decide, in proportion to the facts: to block the address (it is deleted with its mail, and cannot be created again), to suspend the account (it can no longer create nor read addresses, which receive nothing), or to do nothing. A suspension or a block can be lifted.

Each decision states its measure, the facts it rests on, its ground (an article of these terms, or the law it applies) and whether it follows a report. It is kept, and shown in your space, where a suspended account still sees it: the service sends no mail. The author of a report sees the decision on its follow-up page, without your data; the publisher may also write to them if they left a contact.

You can contest a decision by writing through the contact page with its number: a person examines it again, and lifts or keeps it. You may also go to court.

Content suggesting a threat to someone’s life or safety is reported to the authorities.

7. Suspension and closing of the account

You can delete your account at any time, yourself, from your space (“My account”), or by asking at [email protected]: it is deleted from Auth0 and from our database, with its addresses and your subscriptions to nerdbox’s emails; backups that still contain it expire within 30 days. The identification data the law requires us to keep is not erased before it is due: 1 year after closing for the account's identifier, 5 years for its email addresses (see the privacy policy).

We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, as described in section 6.

8. Liability

Mail is written by its senders, not by nerdbox: it is shown as received, without review. nerdbox hosts it for you and acts on the reports it receives. The publisher is not liable for the loss or the delay of a mail, nor for the consequences of using a disposable address for a service that needed a lasting one.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer.

9. Personal data and cookies

What is collected, why and for how long is explained in the privacy policy; cookies and browser storage on the cookies page.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms are versioned: this is version 2026-10-07.1. A new version is announced in your space, which asks you to accept it before you can create an address. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account.

11. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country of the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.

In case of a dispute, write first to [email protected] for a friendly solution. Otherwise, the competent court is the one the law designates; as a consumer, you can also go to the court of the place where you live.
